In Love With...Collages

Happy Friday everyone!

Who doesn't LOVE collages?  For me they are so fun to look at.  I've done a few now in the bungalow.  A couple more elaborate and one very simple.  They can be quit a bit of work but so worth it.  Lucky too that I have the best GREATEST husband in the world to help me hang them.

This first collage is in our living room. Frames are a mix from Pottery Barn, IKEA and Michaels. I wanted photos of our family and those things important to us. To get the lay out I wanted I first laid out all the pics on the floor and played with their arrangement. When I was happy with one I laid it over paper and traced it out. Next I hung the paper on the wall to make sure it was the size I wanted. When it was all ready The Mr. was able to use the paper template to mark where they were to go on the wall.  He hung this one for me since I wanted it very precise and The Mr. is the best at that!

The next collage is the one I did in Katie's room.  I wanted Bub's less planned and laid out random.  This one took so much less time.  For this collage I only used IKEA frames but got an assortment of them.  To hang I cut out paper in the shape and size of all frames.  Hung the paper templates on the wall and marked when happy.  I did leave the paper up for a few days just in case I wanted to tweak it.

Had to sneak this pic in.  Bub loves her collage too!

My last collage is in the guest bedroom.  I did this one with just a few frames.  I wanted it to be simple.  Two frames are from PBK that I got on sale.  The oval shaped was a flea market find for $1.  This collage I did with no template.  Just hammered in the nails and hoped it would shape out nicely.  I was pretty impressed with my eye ball approach.  I thought it looked pretty good.  Do you think so?

And now for some I saw online and LOVED...

Hope you all have a good weekend!

  3. I LOVE the Two Little Dickie Birds one! I just have the two pictures and flower peg in Aidan's room, so it isn't really a collage. But I love your planning method. It was very tricky trying to show David how I wanted them to line up. So I will definitely use your method in the future!

Oh...and the painted butterflies were on sale at PBK...the ones made out of feathers. From $29 to $19. Not that you need them cuz the room looks perfect! Oh...and PBK has two events coming up that sound fun. Let me know if you're interested!

  4. My fav is Two Little Dickie Birds too. That one would be so simple. Get some cheap-o frames from thrift store, spray paint them bold and hang with no pic. We should totally try it for your house Katie. Let me know if you'd be interested. Thanks for letting me know about butterflies too. I may take advantage of that. Could use a few more.

Mand totally right. Great minds think alike....
