The wedding I'm decorating is this weekend and will be held at The Grove's Redfield Estate. The Grove is a gorgeous 123 acre nature preserve and historic site in Glenview, llinois, a suburb of Chicago. This land was once owned by an area settler and horticulturalist, Dr. John Kennicott and his son Robert, a pioneer naturalist and explorer. It is currently owned by the Glenview Park District and open to the public. For more history on the site visit History of The Grove.
I had a chance to visit recently and snooped around. I was in awe. The Grove is so peaceful and I LOVed seeing all the gorgeous plants and flowers. My favorite part was peeking through the door of the Kennicott house. LOVely antiques easily spotted :)
The Redfield Estate is a building at The Grove designed in Tudor-style and was the home of Kennicott descendents and authors Louise Redfield Peattie and Donald Culross Peattie. It was built in 1929 and now the site for many events.
The Redfield Estate is where my friend chose for her wedding day. Perfection! The house is used for indoor events and nearby is the pavilion for those outdoors. This special day will be outdoors amidst all the beauty of the surrounding nature.
Isn't that fireplace amazing?
Intimate space for the 70ish guests planning to celebrate.
LOVely planters adorning the site.
I promise you that the pictures alone do not show off all the beauty of The Grove. You have to see for yourself. Check it out if you are in the area!
This weekend is going to be busy finishing wedding decor projects so have yourself a LOVely one!
