Napa. Booked!

Me and The Mr. are heading to Napa Valley in April.

A much needed vaca.  Woot!

I have so many things I want to do and see there.  Got any recommendations for us???

Share!  Share!  Share!

We will be staying at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena.  It was even named one of America's most romantic date destinations by Redbook.  Bring on the romance!

We plan on enjoying plenty of wine and visiting some great vineyards.

Driving through and seeing the redwoods.

Tasting all kinds of yummy food.

And most importantly some relaxing.

Oh and have you noticed the look around here?

Let me know what you think!

IT'S A LOVELY DAY!

Hey Friends.

The new blog design will be worked on tonight.  As long as everything is full sailing we should be looking new tomorrow.

Yay!  Cannot wait!!!

Now go have yourself a lovely day.

I'm planning to.  The weather in Chicago is a whopping 60 degrees.  And mind you we were in the single digits last week....

We could practically go swimming out there with these crazy temps.

Don't you just LOVe Marilyn Monroe?  I do!

A Gift From Bungalov

For Christmas I put together special gift sets.  I would of shared sooner but I finally passed out my
last one.  Didn't want to spoil the surprise!

I wanted to do something thoughtful and useful.  Also with a vintage, handmade twist.

Bath salt in a mason jar.

This was so easy to put together and what a great way to remind that special person to relax and take some time for themselves.  Also a great bathroom decor piece!

All you have to do is this:

1.  Get yourself a mason jar.  I used a vintage blue Atlas jar.  You could even easily go buy one from Michaels and buy it dirt cheap using their famous 40% off coupons.

2.  Fill it with your favorite bath salt.  I used lavender since that is my all time fav smell.

3.  Make a tag and personalize.  Mine were made right on the computer and cut out using my tag puncher.  Tied it on with some jute twine.

I was so happy how these turned out that I'm even thinking about putting more together to sell at the flea market.  What do you think?  Would you buy one?

I also gave a set of "twine on a stick".  These have been such a hit in my shop.  So many uses for twine and always adds a fun touch to gift wrapping.

So, next time you need to give a gift think about doing something from "yourself" that you put together.  Skip getting something store bought.  I promise you it will be much more meaningful to that special person.

Blog News

OK Peeps.

I am so excited to finally share some news I've been keeping under wraps.

I've been working on a new blog design for the last couple months and we are almost there.  EEEKKK!  I am so giddy with excitement.  It looks AWESOME and reflects me so well. Savannah at Maiedae has been working with me and she's been so patient and helpful.

This process has been a long one.  It took me forever to finally find someone I liked and felt would do the design I'd been yearning.  I searched endlessly for a designer that I thought really captured the look I was going for.  It is so overwhelming how many designers there are out there and how many different looks you can go for.  You get lost in it all.

I first started by looking for blogs and websites that I liked the design of.  Basically the "look" I wanted to achieve.

Here are some of my fav's.

Sadie Olive

Three Pennies

Schoolhouse Electric

Madewell

Next I started finding out who the designer was of blogs that caught my eye.  When I came across Maiedae, I knew.  Just look at their site and portfolio.  It reflects the style I was looking for to a "T".

It could not have been any better.  Seriously!  I cannot tell you how many other designers I sought and just never contacted them because they were not 100% for me.  When I found Maidae's site there wasn't even a question in my mind.  I found what I was looking for.  I sent an email right away and told them I needed their help!  Fast!

Next, I started my "Blog Design Ideas" board on Pinterest.  This helped me gather things I liked and saw inspiration in.  Colors, texture, fonts, logos, branding.

Color inspiration.

Texture.

Fonts.

Logos and branding.

I really cannot wait to show you all!!

Very soon.  I promise!

Fail

Oh my gosh it has been two weeks since last writing.

Where the heck have I been?  I feel like I just wrote about my haircut.  I've missed you all, though, and it is always so nice to jot down and share my thoughts.  It gives me an outlet to express myself.  Helps me stay creative.  Motivated to do the things that I LOVe.  Especially when things are hard.

Which remember my new year's resolution to take things easy?  Let me re quote myself.

"In 2013 I plan to take things easy. De stress. Not feel so pressured to be perfect. (Yes, I'm a perfectionist.) Take one thing at a time. Breath more. Relax more."

Fail.

I had a meltdown last week.  I've been feeling A LOT of pressure and finally shut down.  I poured myself out to the Mr.  Cried.  Admitted how I feel tired, run down, unmotivated.  This is very hard for me to share with you all by the way.  I hate feeling vulnerable and like I'm failing.  I will say though that it feels good to let it out.  It takes a ton of weight off my shoulders.  As I write this it also makes me realize that maybe failing will actually help me succeed with this resolution.  We learn from our mistakes and failures.  So, going through this bump in the road may just help me in the end.  It is more proof that I need to slow down.  Stop trying to do it all.  Work at a comfortable pace and ask for help when I need it.  It is OK to show I am vulnerable.  I am human!

So, back to working on my resolution and making myself a better, less stressed out, me.

Now go have yourself a fabulous week!!!

I'm going to!

Plan on hanging out with these two crazy girls!

They really help to keep everything into perspective!

 LOVe!

New Do

Going to keep it short, simple, sweet and to the point.

Got myself a new do.  Not a major change but some needed ones.

.

Added some highlights and went with the inverted bob.

The thing I LOVed was that the stylist curled my hair.  She asked if she could and I told her "good luck".  My hair NEVER holds a curl.

Well, low and behold she proved me wrong.  And she did it with a straightener.  WTH!

I was impressed and LOVed the curled look.  Now I just wish I could replicate.

Oh well!  I at least had the day to enjoy it!

I will say that looking at these pics make me so glad to be back at the gym (again).  Yes, I started going back in September but then life got in the way and I have not been there the last three.  Well, off to lose some weight and get back to my pre-baby weight!  Ha!

Oh and P.S.  Brian no making fun of my modeling skills this time around, OK?

Yeah, I know you are reading this :)

Happy 2013

Hey friends!

Happy 2013 to YOU!!!

WOW, where the heck did 2012 go?  I feel like it came and went so fast.  Life itself always feels so fast.  Crazy.  I feel like when I was a kid it seemed like a year was an eternity.  Now, it feels like much less and all I do is just get old(er).  Yikes!

Ever since having kids life feels like it just flies.  I can't even believe I am 33 years old.  OMG.  I don't feel it, that's for sure.  Do we ever feel our age?  As I get older I realize more and more that we always feel young at heart.  Our bodies age but our minds and heart stay just as they are.  Wiser and more experienced but young.  Or yearn to feel young and be young.

With the new year comes resolutions.  I honestly dread them.  I never know what I want to achieve and feel like I just always fail anyways.  So, why even have one?  Well, because.  It gives me something to look forward to and work at.  Even if I fail.  A lot of times it is failures that we learn from.  Grow from.  Work to be better.

So, with tradition I will set my goal.  My resolution.

In 2013 I plan to take things easier.  De stress.  Not feel so pressured to be perfect.  (Yes, I'm a perfectionist.)  Take one thing at a time.  Breath more.  Relax more.  Yes, that list is more than one but they all go hand in hand to me.  Basically, life is short and I want to live 2013 to it fullest and enjoy every minute of it.  Stop wasting time on the little things and enjoy the big picture.
So, on to 2013 and time to move ahead.

What is your resolution for the new year?
